morning thoughts: a well-considered moment

In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
— Buddha

when you practice mindfulness, you learn how to take a mental pause and to consider the moment, before you mindlessly react. you learn to tame your ill-conceived monkey-brained responses so you can react skillfully to a situation, with compassion, both for yourself and others, rather than creating further drama, rather than causing further suffering and pain.

a well-considered moment not only embraces wisdom, but it nurtures peace and well-being.
