poetry succeeds where explanation and reasoning fail

words and photo by Brian Thompson.

poetry succeeds
where explanation and reasoning fail.

it’s how all that's overlooked or ignored
can be fully expressed;
it’s where words reach beyond meaning or logic,
pointing to their true and absolute nature
that's hidden within.

through emotions and feelings,
and turned around, upside down meanings,
it reveals to a mind
what otherwise makes no sense.

it’s how we relate and understand
— and become one —
with the poetry of life itself.

like the moon in a dewdrop,
it’s how we explore the cosmos
while our feet are on the ground,
and our minds are in the clouds.
